Who We Are
Towson Equestrian is a tier 5 club sport at Towson University and is open to anyone who is interested in riding or in learning to ride. We are proud to be the 2022 Towson University Sport Club of the Year!
No riding experience is necessary and we encourage anyone who thinks they might enjoy being a part of the team to come and give it a try. Student founded in 2007, the Towson Equestrian Team competes in traditional huntseat disciplines with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) during both the fall and spring semesters as part of Zone 4 Region 1. Although we do have a show team within the club, it is not required that you show. We welcome those who want to compete, and those that just want to have fun and enjoy riding! Both the club and show teams practice with Julia Wright at Featherdown Farm in Reisterstown, Maryland. Practices are held Monday through Friday, over a span of 10 weeks and are taught in a group setting according to riding level and each member's availability. While we do offer a wide range of lesson times, it is not guaranteed that there will be an available Towson lesson at a time that works for each interested student. We try and accommodate all students interested in joining, but our coach does have lessons and business outside of this team. |
Lesson Policy & Cancellation Disclaimer:
We stress the importance of communication and being on time for lessons, shows, and community service because not only does that affect the member themself, but it also does affect our coach and fellow teammates. It is asked of each member that they notify both an executive board member and coach if they will not be able to attend their lesson for that day. This is to ensure that the team does not get financially penalized and determines if the horse you were to use for your lesson can be fed and turned out. If you do miss a lesson and have given an executive board member and coach the proper notification ahead of time, you are allowed to schedule a makeup lesson with coach at no additional cost.
